Management Trainee Programme (REF: MT)

BEA Macau Branch offers a promising career path to outstanding university graduates.  Our 24-month Management Trainee (“MT”) Programme aims to nurture potential and young executives and to develop future management staff of our Branch. MTs, who complete the MT Programme as per the training schedule, are able to follow a fast track to become a manager in two years, a process that usually takes four years. 

 

MT Programme

During the 24-month MT Programme, trainees will gain in-depth knowledge of the banking and financial fields through on-the-job development and extensive training.  Given BEA's strong presence in Mainland China, trainees will also gain exposure to China market.

In addition to receiving extensive exposure to the Bank's business and operations, trainees will have opportunities to be actively involved in various corporate events, including Corporate Social Responsibility activities throughout the training period.

MT Development Model

A variety of development tools are used to transform talented trainees into the future management staff of BEA Macau Branch.  The following development model summarises our approach:

Training and Professional Development
  • Trainees will be provided with broad exposure to the operations of BEA Macau Branch, its products and services, and the local banking industry.  In addition, they will be given numerous opportunities to develop their soft skills that are required for every successful banker.
  • Within the 24-month programme, trainees will be supported by the Branch to obtain relevant licences and attain the Advanced Diploma in Banking and Financial Services for Accredited Banking Practitioner of Associate of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (“AHKIB”).
On-the-job Development
  • During the first 12 months, trainees will receive intensive training in BEA Macau Branch's core functional units through short-term job attachments, including the following departments:
    - Personal Banking
    - Corporate Banking
    - Operations Support 
  • Trainees will receive on-the-job training programme at BEA's branches in Hong Kong and China from the 11th to 12th month. 
  • From the 13th to 24th month, each trainee will be assigned to one department of BEA Macau Branch for a 12-month attachment to equip him / her with in-depth business knowledge before any formal placement. 
Project Learning
  • To further develop the capabilities in research and analysis, problem solving, and decision making, trainees will be required to work on a project and deliver a presentation to our management panel before the end of the 24-month programme.
Coaching and Mentoring
  • Deputy General Managers of BEA Macau Branch will be assigned as mentors of the trainees to help them integrate into the organisation and assist them in the career development through experience sharing.
Organisational Engagement
  • Engaging at the corporate level is a valuable process of discovery for the trainees to fully understand BEA's mission, culture, direction and organisational dynamics.
  • Trainees will have ample exposures and opportunities to involve in various corporate events and Corporate Social Responsibility activities.
  • Through participating in these activities, trainees will learn to collaborate with others and develop their communication and leadership skills.
Career Orientation Mapping
  • Career orientation review will be conducted by the end of the first year of the MT Programme to map trainees' strengths with corporate manning needs.
  • Through assessing trainees' aptitude, capabilities and potentials, this review will serve as a basis for planning appropriate job attachment for individual trainee in the second year of the MT Programme and pave the way for future job placement.
Continuous Career Planning and Monitoring
  • Performance of the trainee graduates will be continuously monitored and talented trainees will receive career planning assistance to help them develop into future management staff.
Eligibility:
  • holds a bachelor's degree (honours) or above from a reputable university (local or overseas) and has no more than two years of work experience;
  • be self-motivated, mature, and possesses a strong drive for excellence;
  • be a good team player and a natural leader;
  • has excellent communication and analytical skills;
  • possesses an excellent command of English, Cantonese, and Putonghua; and
  • be passionately committed to developing a long-term career in the banking industry.
