ATM Services

BEA's automatic teller machines (“ATMs”) in Macau offer the convenient banking services to the ATM cardholders of BEA or of JETCO member banks:

  • Cash Withdrawals
  • Fund Transfers
  • Balance Enquiries
  • Statement and Cheque Book Requests
  • Change PIN
  • Change of Display Language (BEA ATM cardholders only)
  • JET PAYMENT
    Settle balances of credit cards issued by various JETCO member banks and bills for merchants on the JETCO Macau Merchant List without prior registration.

The following services are available for holders of Visa PLUS, China UnionPay ATM cards, or Visa/JCB Credit Cards:

  • Cash Withdrawals (MOP and HKD)
  • Balance Enquiries (not applicable to JCB Credit Card)

Remarks: Unless otherwise specified, the term “ATM card” includes standard ATM cards and credit cards which have been linked to a deposit account.

Obtain cash, transfer funds, make account balance enquiries, and change your 6-digit personal identification number (“PIN”) at any ATM displaying the “JETCO” sign in Macau, Hong Kong and Mainland China

union pay Obtain cash and make account balance enquiries at any ATM, or make direct payments via any POS terminal displaying the “UnionPay” sign around the world

Transfer funds from accounts linked to your ATM card and held at the Macau Branch of The Bank of East Asia, Limited (“BEA Macau Branch” or “the Bank”) to accounts held at other participating JETCO member banks in Macau at any ATM in Macau displaying the “Interbank Transfer” sign

Pay a variety of bills without prior registration at any ATM displaying the “JET PAYMENT” sign

ATM Services

  1. Cash withdrawals
    You can withdraw cash from your primary account* or designated account(s)* through a JETCO ATM or from your first MOP savings/current account through a UnionPay ATM for any amount up to MOP20,000, or its equivalent, per card per calendar day.

    * “Primary account” refers to the account of your ATM card, while “designated account” refers to any other BEA account linked to your ATM card.

  2. Transfers

    i)    

    You can transfer funds from your MOP primary account or MOP/HKD designated account(s) to other MOP/HKD account(s) held at the BEA Macau Branch through a JETCO ATM for any amount up to MOP20,000, or its HKD equivalent, per card per calendar day.

    ii) You can also transfer any amount of funds in the same currency among your card accounts through a JETCO ATM.

    iii)

    You can transfer funds among your MOP primary account and your MOP/HKD designated account(s) through currency exchange via a JETCO ATM for any amount up to MOP20,000, or its HKD equivalent, per card per calendar day.

    iv) You can transfer funds from your MOP primary account or MOP/HKD designated account(s) to accounts held at other participating JETCO member banks in Macau through any JETCO ATM displaying the “Interbank Transfer” sign for any amount up to MOP15,000, or its HKD equivalent, per card per calendar day. You may also transfer funds from account(s) held at other participating JETCO member banks in Macau to your MOP/HKD account with BEA Macau Branch for any amount up to a limit of MOP50,000, or its HKD equivalent, per account per calendar day.
  3. Balance enquiries
    You can check about the balance of your primary account and designated account(s) through any JETCO ATM. You can also enquire about the balance of your first MOP savings/current account through a UnionPay ATM, and the balance amount will be shown as an equivalent amount in the local currency.
  4. Statement/cheque book requests
    You can request a SupremeGold Account/Current Account/Multi-currency Statement Savings Account statement or cheque book via an BEA ATM in Macau/Hong Kong or any JETCO ATM. The statement/cheque book will be mailed to your address according to our records. If you request a cheque book via a BEA ATM in Macau, you can choose to collect the cheque book at your account opening branch/sub-branch, or have it delivered by registered mail (postage applies). However, if you request a cheque book via an ATM operated by another JETCO member bank, the cheque book will be automatically sent to you by registered mail (postage applies). The service charge for a statement/cheque book and the postage for a cheque book delivered by registered mail (if applicable) will be debited from your transaction account.
  5. Change of PIN
    You can change your 6-digit PIN through your primary account at any BEA ATM in Macau/Hong Kong or any JETCO ATM.
  6. Change of display language (available at BEA ATMs in Macau only)
    You can change your ATM display language to Chinese or English through your primary account at any BEA ATM in Macau.
  7. JET PAYMENT
    You can make the following payments through a JETCO ATM displaying the "JET PAYMENT" sign for any amount up to MOP50,000, or its HKD equivalent, per card per calendar day without prior registration:

    i)    

    Bill payments (available at JETCO ATM displaying the “JET PAYMENT” sign in Macau) – Pay various bills for services including telecommunications, government, utilities and insurance.

    ii) Credit card payments (available at JETCO ATM displaying the “JET PAYMENT” sign) – Settle the balance of credit cards issued by other JETCO member banks.
  8. Overseas ATM cash withdrawal settings
    You can activate, deactivate or change the overseas ATM cash withdrawal settings of your ATM card via a JETCO ATM in Macau.

Transfer Payments

UnionPay POS service
You can make payments for any amount up to MOP50,000, or its equivalent, per card per calendar day through your MOP primary account at shops worldwide displaying the “UnionPay” sign.

Notes:

  1. The primary account of your BEA ATM card must be an MOP account. If you are a SupremeGold customer, your primary account will be your SupremeGold - MOP Current Account and your first designated account will be your SupremeGold – Statement Savings Account.
  2. Where an annual fee is applicable, the fee will be automatically debited from your primary account. The Bank will inform you of the card fee due date one month in advance via an on-screen message at BEA ATMs in Macau/Hong Kong.
  3. A replacement fee of MOP50 will be levied if your ATM card is damaged/reported lost and a replacement card is to be issued to you.
  4. A service charge of HK$15 will be levied for each cash withdrawal made via any BEA ATM in Mainland China or Hong Kong, or any UnionPay ATM worldwide. A service charge of HK$25 will be levied for each cash withdrawal made via a JETCO ATM in Mainland China or Hong Kong. If an ATM displays both the JETCO and UnionPay signs, your cash withdrawal will be processed via the JETCO network and a service charge of HK$25 will be levied. The charge will be automatically debited from the transaction account.
  5. A service charge of HK$5 will be levied for each interbank transfer transaction, and will be automatically debited from the transaction account.
  6. The minimum cash amount that can be withdrawn at ATMs operated by other JETCO member banks in Macau is MOP300. However, this minimum requirement does not apply to BEA ATMs in Macau.
  7. According to the requirements of the Autoridade Monetaria de Macau, with effect from Monday, 26th May, 2014 ("the Effective Date"), security controls of the following ATM and POS services will be enhanced. From the Effective Date, you can change the ATM card settings through the channels as prescribed by the Bank.

    i)    

    Overseas ATM cash withdrawal function

      The overseas ATM cash withdrawal function (including Mainiland China and Hong Kong) for the Bank's ATM cards will be preset as "deactivated" with effect from the Effective Date. To ensure that you can continue using overseas ATM cash withdrawal services on or after the Effective Date, from the Effective Date, you can activate the overseas ATM cash withdrawal function of your ATM card by setting the activation period and overseas daily withdrawal limit of your ATM card via your Cyberbanking account or any BEA/JETCO ATM in Macau. The overseas ATM cash withdrawal activation start date should be the same as or later than the setting date and should not be more than 6 months from the setting date. The end date should be within 5 years of the start date, or the card expiry date, whichever is earlier. The daily overseas ATM cash withdrawal limit can be set from minimum MOP100 up to a maximum of MOP20,000, and the amount should be a multiple of MOP100. The Bank will send an SMS to your registered mobile phone number once the overseas ATM cash withdrawal function has been activated or its setings have been changed successfully. However, when deactivating the overseas ATM cash withdrawal function, no notification SMS will be sent. You can also activate the overseas ATM cash withdrawal function of your ATM card permanently and preset its daily limit; please apply at any BEA Macau branch/sub-branch.

    ii)    

    Transfer payment function

      The daily transfer payment limit for the Bank’s ATM cards was preset as MOP0. From the Effective Date, you can change the daily transfer payment limit, deactivate or activate the overseas transfer payment function via your Cyberbanking account or at any BEA Macau branch/sub-branch. The combined local and overseas daily transfer payment limit can be adjusted from the Bank's preset maximum limit of MOP50,000 to a minimum of MOP100, and the amount should be in a multiple of MOP100.

    iii)    

    SMS alert function

      From the Effective Date, the Bank will send an SMS to your registered mobile phone number whenever an ATM cash withdrawal or POS transfer payment transaction equal to or over MOP1,000 is made. You can deactivate the SMS alert function or adjust the pre-defined transaction amount via your Cyberbanking account or at any BEA Macau branch/sub-branch. The pre-defined transaction amount can be adjusted from a minimum of MOP100 up to a maximum of MOP20,000, in a multiple of MOP100.

Interbank transfer disclaimer:

Outward Transfers 
  1. BEA Macau Branch will debit the sum from the your account immediately upon receipt of the interbank transfer request.
  2. The receiving bank may credit the transferred funds to the transferee’s account according to its own arrangements, and the Bank will not be responsible for the time as to when the transferred funds will actually be credited to the receiving account.
  3. The Bank will not be responsible, under any circumstances, for recovering any amount paid to a receiving bank and will not be responsible, for any reasons, for any failure of any receiving bank to pay the recipient.
  4. You acknowledge the risk involved in transferring funds to third party accounts (e.g. the funds being transferred to unauthorised third party accounts), and the Bank will not be responsible for such risk.
  5. If a receiving bank is in default of the interbank settlement before your payment has been made, the payment will not be completed and the debit entry in your account will be reversed accordingly.
Inward Transfers
  1. When funds are transferred from the paying bank to your account via ATM, BEA will credit the funds to your account in accordance with our existing practices.
  2. The Bank reserves the right at any time to reverse any credit to the customer’s account if the paying bank fails, for any reasons, to make payment to the Bank.

 

ATM Card and PIN Security Tips

For your own benefit, please take special note of the following:

  1. Do not keep your ATM card and Personal Identification Number (“PIN”) in the same place.
  2. Avoid placing your ATM card close to any magnetic objects.
  3. Change your PIN immediately when using your ATM card for the first time and destroy any documents containing information on your PIN.
  4. Be sure not to use your identity card number, telephone number, date of birth, driving licence number, or any popular number sequence (such as 987654 or 123456) as your PIN. Avoid using the same digit consecutively or the same sequence of numbers more than twice (such as 112233 or 383838).
  5. If you enter an incorrect PIN 4 times consecutively, your ATM card will be captured by the ATM.
  6. Do not write down your PIN. You should memorise it.
  7. Do not send your PIN via email/SMS, and never use the same PIN to access other services.
  8. Do not write down your PIN on the card face and do not disclose your PIN to anyone including any joint holder of your account.
  9. Do not, under any circumstances, disclose your PIN to anyone who claims to represent the Bank, or who claims to be an employee of the Bank or other authorised person(s), or who claims to be the police. It is not necessary for anyone to know your PIN. The Bank will never ask for your PIN by email, SMS, phone, or by any other means.
  10. For security reasons, change your PIN regularly.
  11. Be alert to your surroundings before conducting any banking transactions. Make sure no one sees your PIN and cover the keypad when you enter your PIN on any device, such as an ATM or other self-service terminal.
  12. Be alert when you are using the ATM. If you notice any suspicious devices at an ATM or any suspicious activities around you when performing an ATM transaction, cancel your transaction immediately and inform the Bank.
  13. When you have completed your ATM transaction, please retrieve your ATM card as instructed. Never try to push your card back into the ATM.
  14. When withdrawing cash from an ATM, remember to take your cash and the ATM card. Count your cash discreetly in a secure environment.
  15. Keep all transaction receipts and check them against your account records.
  16. Do not request any other persons to perform any ATM or POS transaction for you.
  17. Call the Bank immediately of any actual or suspected unauthorised use of your ATM card and/or PIN, and confirm notification to the Bank in wirting.
  18. Do not seek or accept assistance from strangers. If you encounter any problem at an ATM, contact the Bank directly.
  19. If your ATM card is lost or stolen, please inform any branch/sub-branch of the Bank immediately, or call the Lost Card Reporting Hotline on (853) 8598 3636.
