Background

Incorporated in Hong Kong in 1918, The Bank of East Asia is the largest independent local bank in Hong Kong. Recognizing the enormous market potential of Macau, this Bank set up its first foreign branch in Macau after Macau's sovereignty return to China in early 2001.

Nowadays, BEA Macau Branch:

  • Provides full range of banking services to all kind of customer after its establishment in 2001
  • Participates actively in financing the territory's essential projects including:
    A syndicated loan of HKD500 million extended to the Macau Fisherman's Wharf Project in 2002
    A syndicated loan of HKD1,200 million extended to the Reconstruction Project of the Landmark in 2003
  • Serves as the business hub and bridge between the Mainland China and Taiwan. Both customers in China and Taiwan can engage in trading business with each other through the BEA network in Greater China
